Ron Brown, BSc, MScOT
Ron has been working as an OT since 2011 in a variety of contexts including return to work, medical legal, home health, nursing homes, and skilled nursing facilities. Having previously studied psychology research and cognitive science at the undergraduate and graduate levels he has particularly enjoyed working in areas such as dementia management, stroke and neurological trauma, linguistic deficits, and cognitive training and compensatory strategies. Ron also has extensive experience working with clients with musculoskeletal injuries and cardiovascular incidents, and – alongside the cognitive realm – Ron has particular passions for depression, anxiety, and chronic pain management. A major component of what attracted Ron to this profession was the opportunity to help people make meaningful, positive changes to their lives. When circumstances take one out of “going through the motions” of their everyday life, it can invite (or force) them to pause and take stock of what they’ve been doing, how they’ve been doing it, and why they’ve been doing it. From this can come fertile grounds for critical insights, wisdom, and positive life changes that may never have occurred to the person had it not been for this interruption in their regularly scheduled life programming.
Outside of work, Ron is an avid gym-goer, a die-hard Blue Jays fan, and a low-key book worm.
"You can grow from this."
