OT Works! is adaptable during changes and is ready to better support everyone – our clients, customers, therapists, staff and our communities – in a safe, respectful and responsible way.
We believe occupational therapy is essential to maintaining the health and wellbeing of the public.
The safety of our clients and staff is our priority. We have developed specific policies and procedures to keep clients, therapists and staff safe.
We continue to provide training to all our therapists and staff. As a regulated profession, we follow the directions of the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). We regularly monitor Public Health guidance and update our practice accordingly.
Occupational Therapy: In-person & Telehealth
Our OTs help clients in-person and remotely by telehealth. Seeing clients in person is our preferred method of service delivery. We also offer services virtually by telehealth when therapeutically appropriate.

Learn moreSafety Protocols at OT Works!
OT Works! has developed a Safety Plan that outlines the policies, guidelines, and procedures we have put in place to keep our clients and staff safe. We review and update our plans and measures if conditions change or in response to Provincial Health Officer orders to ensure our policies and protocols continues to be effective and functioning properly.
In-person is the preferred method of service delivery at OT Works! All clients considering in-person services will complete a Point of Care Risk Assessment with their OT before the session proceeds and at the start of their in-person session. Upon completion of the screen, the OT may adapt the session plan to maintain the health and safety of both the client and therapist if necessary.
We continue to deliver services by telehealth, if appropriate. Our occupational therapists can provide remote care services by phone, email, text messages and video. Telehealth can allow live, confidential and safe interactions with an occupational therapist. We have developed protocols and plans that follow guidelines by the College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC) and the Provincial Health Services Agency (PHSA). Our goal is to provide remote therapy through telehealth that is meaningful and appropriate.

Face masks are recommended, but not required. Our Therapists will wear masks in certain situations, as required.
Therapists will perform proper hand hygiene when interacting with clients. Training has been provided on hand hygiene protocols with specific attention given our operations in the community.
Support workers providing services will follow the same safety protocols as all our occupational therapists.
Therapists will stay home when sick, or if advised to self-isolate by a physician or public health unit.
Remote working is the default mode of business for non-clinical operations. Our collaboration takes place online and by phone. We support work from home.
As a regulated profession, we follow the directions of the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). We regularly monitor developments and guidance from the Public Health Officer of BC, BC Center for Disease Control, the Government of Canada, WorkSafeBC, and regional health authorities. We review all guidance and update policies and procedures accordingly.
